The engine overheats.
The circuit needs attention.

The cooling system is vital for engine longevity. Over time, coolant loses its properties and rust, limescale and sludge accumulate in the circuit. Preventive cleaning and replacement avoid catastrophic failures.

The cooling system

The circuit that protects the engine from heat

The cooling system keeps the engine at its ideal operating temperature, dissipating excess combustion heat. The coolant circulates through the engine block, radiator, hoses and cabin heater.

Frost protection

In winter, old coolant can lose its cold resistance. If it freezes, its volume increases and can literally crack the engine block or burst the radiator — catastrophic and very expensive failures.

Failure symptoms

How to know if your vehicle needs attention?

  • Engine heats beyond normal temperature
  • Visible coolant leaks
  • Steam or sweet smell in the engine compartment
  • Visible limescale deposits in the radiator
  • Weak or non-existent cabin heating
  • Radiator fans running constantly

Consequences

What happens if you not maintaining it?

Engine overheating is one of the most destructive and expensive failures. Prevention is incomparably cheaper than repair.

  • Head gasket failure — repair between €800 and €2,500
  • Total water pump failure from abrasive wear
  • Internal corrosion of engine block and radiator
  • Engine block cracking from coolant freezing
  • Coolant leak into engine oil
